Smells Bad and Food Taste Bad!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We used this in our office and after about 6 months we noticed the microwave made a high pitch squeal and when you would open the door it kind of smelled like it was burning up-like melted plastic. It still works but now our food is starting to be tastless, except for a metalic and plastic taste. Cant be healthy! We are throwing it in the trash and getting a new GE! By the way this was bought in store not online.
One month is all it was worth.

We received this Microwave as a gift for Christmas to replace the 11 year old one that worked fine but was outdated. This CuisinArt microwave looked very nice and worked just fine out of the box for exactly one month. Now everytime you close the door, it turns on by itself and stays on. It just goes and goes and you can’t press any buttons to stop it. The only way to stop it is to unplug the darn thing. Now we don’t have a microwave because last week, I gave the old one to a good cause. This just happened so I can’t comment on how the return of this product will be, but I would certainly steer clear of buying this junk and I would also recommend you NOT buying any small appliance over the internet. There are some purchases that are great to buy online but small appliances isn’t one of them. Save your money and frozen food and DO NOT BUY the CuisinArt CMW-100 Microwave! It has a mind of its’ own and is quite dangerous.
I love This Microwave
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a great microwave. It is so sleek looking, both inside and out. I have used it everyday. I admit, I have to keep the instruction booklet on my cabinet by it, as I am using it to actually cook my meals. I don’t use it just to reheat food. I would recommend this microwave to everyone.
Best looking by far
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Excellent product for the price. If you are short on space, this unit looks smart inside and out. The outside side panels are NOT stainless – they are gray, so if you’re trying to keep a clean look that matches fridge/stove/etc, a cubby or nook to place it in would be best. I’ve actually had people exclaim out loud when the open it… the inside is gorgeous.
This is my third Cuisinart product. My experience with customer service has been great, especially the man who ran the warehouse that my coffee maker parts came from. Send in your warranty card: if anything goes wrong you have a better chance of smooth dealings.

UPDATE: no joy of clean
The bad, no the real REAL bad
- You CANNOT sanitize this puppy completely.
here is why: anyone who has used a microwave has experienced a splatter here and there. I am no exception either. Up until now, I would grudgingly ignore the door after making sure the rest of it was sparkling. Last night I re-heated some ravioli in marinara sauce and forgot to cover it. So I got a huge tomato splatter in the interior and yes I earned it. Fair enough.
I just called Cuisinart this morning and they told me, the door is not designed to be cleaned!!!! Hello?!!! NOT DESIGNED TO BE CLEANED? Ever heard something so illogical? If you are rolling your eyes at that, listen to this. The lady then went on to advise me that I should use a paper towel to cover the door every time I microwave.
I will post pictures another time, but please save your money and don’t buy one of these until the engineers at Cuisinart rectify this obvious design flaw.(after ALL the gadgets they manufacture – they did not foresee this? do they test these things before they put out to the public)
Funny, even though the joke is on me.
The good:
- Good looking – and in my kitchen, and I am sure in yours
– that is a must
- Compact, does not occupy too much counter space (if you put it there, that is). I put mine on a wine stand that is about a foot wide.
- handy in a crunch – is stainless steel friendly and therefore great for reheating food without having to transfer it to ‘microwave’ safe containers first. I cannot live without this feature – spoilt – I know
- great price point
- I am sorry to disagree with other users who found this junk – I have owned one for two years, and have never had a problem with it. (who know, my almost negative review might be my undoing)
- mostly easy to clean – cleaning the door is a whole other ball game
*** The three stars were because the product lasted me flawlessly for so long. It still works.
Not a problem to be found!

The microwave is a beautiful appliance with the chrome & stainless steel complimenting each other. Ease of use $ added features make this a very good buy.
Good microwave, great price!

I am very happy with m new microwave. I wanted one with a stainless steel interior. It’s easy to find stainless microwaves that are stainless on the outside, but they are usually painted white on the inside. I have had problems with that type, because the steam eventually makes the paint chip, then the metal starts rusting. A stainless interior should solve that problem.
Junker Alert
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The good news is, it’s pretty to look at. The bad news is that it lasted only 12 months and then just up and died. About a month ago, I noticed it pulsed as it ran but still worked. Then last week, I turned it on and after about 20 seconds, it made a horrible, grinding sound and simply shut off. I tried it again but the exact same thing happened. I used it mainly for thawing meat before I would cook it on the stove and to make popcorn. I didn’t use it much at all so this thing is a total lemon.
The sad thing is that I had a friend help me get it all set up and working when I first got it. The box and packing materials were thrown out right away. I didn’t get to the warranty card for at least a week. When I went to fill out the warranty information, the ID number IS ON THE BOX which was long gone, so I’m totally out of luck. They will fix it but the owner has to pay for shipping to and from their repair center! You can get a new microwave for the cost of their shipping. You would be much better off with a new one, believe me. Don’t buy this!
Not a good choice

I had mine for 6 months. The turn table went on and off as other reviews indicate. As of today, it stopped working altogether. This unit has a nice appearance, the stainless interior is a plus, but the quality does not match. What a disappointment.
Broken in less than a year!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My in-laws got us this microwave last year for Christmas. Initially I liked it. It popped popcorn well and heated things relatively evenly. My husband didn’t like the controls though. You can’t just put in the # of minutes you want. If you want to put in 40 seconds you have to select the power level first. To him this was a big deal.
When we first got it I had trouble with it making strange sounds and the turntable having trouble turning once in a while, but figured it was because of crumbs under the turntable. It would usually go away after cleaning under it well. Maybe it was a precursor of things to come. Yesterday it died. I’d turn it on and it would go for 3 seconds and then the lights on the front would flicker out and it would stop running, but the turntable would keep going. I tried plugging ang unplugging it a few times but it would either do that again or it wouldn’t run at all, but the time would start counting down anyway. It was going to cost us over $30 to send back plus $15 on return shipping, so this is going to the landfill instead. Way to go, Cuisinart! They should stick with food processors and the like. I would NEVER buy another Cuisinart microwave.
Just went out and bought this microwave Sharp R-420LW Family Size Countertop Microwave as a replacement. My parents had a Sharp microwave they bought back in the late 80′s and it was still ticking in 2006 despite heavy use and they replaced it just to upgrade with another Sharp in 2006 and that one’s still doing well. Wouldn’t recommend a Sharp LCD tv (whole other story), but they’re pro’s when it comes to microwaves!
Looks good, but that’s about it
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I couldn’t believe what I got out the box. It just looked sooooo cheap. There’s no push button to open the door. The door handle is made of plastic with chrome paint. The entire casing is the thinnest steel they could have possibly used. But it looks fine. I had this thing for around 6 months. Tonight I heard a pop, went to the kitchen and thought something in a bottle popped or something. Thought nothing of it until a few hours later I was hungry and decided to zap some Hot Pockets…but the microwave was off! So I thought it was the outlet, so I reset the circuit breaker and nothing. I changed outlets and it turns back on. Great, so I pop in the plate and it’s going…for 7 seconds and shuts off. Blank screen. WTF right? I tried at different power settings thinking it might be too much, which would be odd since for the past 6 months it’s been going great. So I try other outlets throughout the house and all does the same, 7 seconds and blank.
Reason I gave it 2 stars is because while it was working it was going well, but not working…well that deserves much less stars.
Anyways, I wrote CS an email seeing what I can do about this but after reading other reviews of their CS…looks like I’m stuck with a bs product that should never have hit the shelves.
Buyer, caution
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
We bought a CMW100 microwave at the end of March this year. We liked the stainless interior and thought it did a good job. Then, in mid-July it just stopped working altogether. I suspect a blown fuse, but can’t really tell. The microwave was running as usual and then just stopped. We since have seen a number of similar experiences with this oven in other reviews.
Called Cuisinart Customer Support, who would only help to to extent of offering to waive the return shipping charge ($15) if we sent the microwave to them for repair, at our expense. This on a 4 month purchase. I fumed.
The Cuisinart contact suggested going back to the retail vendor, in this case our local Bed, Bath & Beyond. We did, and they could not have been nicer nor more helpful. They fully reversed the charge for the purchase and even issued us a discount coupon as we had applied one to the original purchase!
Along with the fuse? problem we’ve had, this microwave has an awkward keyboard setting: you have to enter the power level each time you set the cooking time, even if you are going to run at full power. It is somewhat noisy compared to others we’ve owned.
Hit it hard and it works
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Used the microwave for about 10 months until one day it wouldn’t start. Instead when you push start it counts down the time. I found that smacking the top would occasionally get it to work, until the cook cycle is done. Put something in afterward and it’s back to counting down. This microwave rubbed me the wrong way from the start. Wasn’t intuitive and I’m not going to bother reading the instructions. Could never set the cooking power and time – just used the pre-set buttons. The start/stop buttons look the same and so I push stop when I want start – can’t recommend a microwave that last less than a year and only operates intermittenly when smacked.
DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’ve owned this unit for less than a year and it has failed in a disturbing way. First it started turning itself on whenever I opened the door and when I closed the door continued running and none of the buttons would stop it. I figured if I unplugged it and plugged it back in that would reset it, but it didn’t. The thing would have been running for lord knows how long. Then, out of the blue it just started on its own. I was sitting in the living room thinking the fridge was awfully loud until I realized it had been the microwave just doing its thing! I have a ground-fault outlet, so I know a surge wasn’t the issue and I barely ever use this thing. Food re-heat and popcorn. I’m not about to find a sturdy box that MIGHT keep this safe, pay to ship this back and pay another $15 for them to return it to me and not even know if they’ll fix it, etc. A $125 mistake going to the trash heap. I will NEVER buy a Cuisinart again and highly suggest you avoid them at all costs.
lasted 2 years

I didn’t have a death wish for this one as I’ve had for others, that wouldn’t die, but it gave up the ghost after only 2 years. It was fine, with convenient minute buttons, though hard to melt butter or boil water properly.
CAUTION! MINE CAUGHT ON FIRE! CUISINART WAS NO HELP!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS! I have only had it for 9 months and it started sparking inside when I would microwave the simplest things (like pasta with butter in a plastic container) I kept using it thinking it was me – and a week later the food CAUGHT ON FIRE! (asparagus/butter in a plastic container) Okay..fine maybe i got a bad microwave. I can handle that. What i can’t handle is the fact that CUISINART COULD CARE LESS! The are SOOOO rude on the phone. They wanted ME to pay for shipping both to them and back to me. They said it would take 8 weeks to REPAIR. yes…repair. Um…I don’t think i feel safe with repaired microwave that catches food on fire. When I asked for a manager – they were even more rude. When I asked for THEIR manager – he was even worse. He actually told me that I may think I’m number one but there are thousands of other customers who have problems who need attention too. I was asking if they could send me a loaner or a replacement since I have a 9 month old daughter that I am constantly warming up meals for. I couldn’t go without a microwave for 8 weeks and I DEFINITELY DIDNT THINK I SHOULD PAY FOR IT. Luckily…Macy’s was so shocked by my experience that they let me return the item for a different product even without my receipt. Thank god for macys otherwise I would have been out a lot of money. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY CUISINART AGAIN – What good is a product if the company won’t back it.
DON’T BUY THIS!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I absolutely love the look of this microwave….however…I have owned it for less than a year and it is seriously malfunctioning. Keep in mind I am single and use it maybe 3 times a week at most to heat up food or make popcorn. Last week I put something in to heat up and closed the door and the microwave started on its own before I programmed it to do anything. It wouldn’t stop no matter what button I pushed, so I unplugged it thinking it was confused and that it would clear it. Nope. Plugged it back in and it kept running–and evidently would do so forever. So, I opened the door while it was running (how dangerous is that?) and then when I hit stop it did so. THEN, last night I’m watching TV and hear a whirring noise. The microwave started on its own…very frightening. So, DON’T BUY THIS…there is definitely something wrong with the mechanics and the idea of having to cart it somewhere for repair or mailing it back now doesn’t sound appealing. Or worse, if it starts running on its own if you leave your house…I won’t trust another Cuisinart.
Defective
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I purchased this microwave approximately ten months ago. It has great aesthetics, but as others have noted, the rotating glass tray inside tends to wobble. This causes it to make clanking noises as it operates. After working as advertised for ten months it stopped. The digital display still works but the microwave is dead.
Overall, this product costs far too much to only work for ten months. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be the norm rather than the exception. Cuisinart is defiantly on my black-list. Buyers beware.
Would enter zero stars if possible
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is the worst microwave we’ve ever owned (though admittedly, we’ve only had a few)– just to add to the other reviews, one other problem is that there is a screen-type cover on the inside that allows food and steam to contact the back of the door window. The screen, as far as we can tell, cannot be removed, so the food and debris are trapped. We can’t figure out how to clean it, so now not only is it unsightly, but the microwave is probably some sort of health hazard. We are extremely disappointed in our purchase. DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE!!!
so far, so good
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We have had no problem with this microwave…it’s been almost 4 months. We really like the stainless, inside and out, and appreciate how easy it is to clean. Admittedly, I was drawn to this model because it is stainless, but it works just as well or better than our past microwaves. The timer settings are a little annoying, but once you get use to it.
It Sucks!!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is absolutely the worst MicroWave we’ve ever owned. Unreliable, have to unplug and replug to reset it. It clanks it bangs, beeps way too loud and the noise it makes rivals the jets taking off from a nearby airport. I’m always afraid of waking my wife at night when I use it. This going in the trash as soon as I can make up my mind on what will replace it.
This is the only Micro I have ever hated!
Great looking and nice performance!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I read other reviews before purchase, many of which were luke-warm, but decided to purchase this product anyhow. I am SO glad that I did. This is a solid and well-performing microwave. The stainless steel interior is generous in size and VERY easy to clean. I am not sure why some reviewers thought that there was no “exact time” option. If you don’t want to use the simple “press button #1 for 1 minute” option, simply press the “power” button to select the power level you want (each successive press of the button gives you different power level options) then enter the exact time in the keypad. I would actually give this microwave top marks for ease of use.
Bottom line? My family and I really like the performance, style and price of this microwave.
Poor workmanship for Cuisinart
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Ordered same product twice but returned twice, no fault of Amazon though. Microwave not put together properly at factory. If looking at front of microwave, both were dented and bowed on the right side and also bowed on the bottom, so did not sit flat on counter. Usually have no problems with Cuisinart but poor “QC” on Cuisinart’s part.

Cuisinart CMW-100 1-Cubic-Foot Stainless-Steel Microwave Oven
The only microwave that I could use due to space limitations and power requirements. Still not as powerful as I would like, but certainly far superior to Panasonic that it has replaced. At least it stays on the shelf when door is opened. Stainless liner is a plus. Exterior also stainless, not white as shown, but this is fine.
Looks great, but…
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This microwave looks good and I love the stainless interior BUT the unit isn’t very well made. It’s loud when it runs, it’s loud when you close the door, you have to push the buttons quite hard to operate it, and it beeps 5 times to signal when something is done! There are much better microwaves out there for the price. I’ve had it less than a week so let’s see how it hold up.
Poor Reliability
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The features and performance of this microwave are fine. The stainless steel interior and exterior are great. However, the reliability and quality of construction are very poor. Out of the box the turntable created a clicking sound as if loose or skipping. Now after less than 2 months, the control panel has gone completely dead. I expect more from Cuisinart.
